**Children's Horsemanship Camps will consist of a full day of Horse related activities. Camps run from 9AM-3:30PM Monday through Friday on select weeks during the summer (Please see Event Calendar /event-calendar.html). Camps are organized by ability and then split into age groups ( Age Requirement is 8 years old for All Day Camp). We only accept six participants per camp, so each child can have one on one instruction. We have qualified Instructors and assistants that guide your child through a week of Horsemanship learning.
Activities help to break up the day and/or can include: Crafts, Scavenger Hunts, Horse Behavior, Breeds, Finger Painting of live horses, Journal Making, and Simon Says (to name a few). We also have a "Day-Away". We usually go swimming but it can include a movie and lunch or a field trip to an equine related business.
Horsemanship Instruction will focus on safety. How to halter, lead, tie, groom, saddle, bridle, and mount. Basic walk, trot, and canter queues (dependent on ability). How to guide the horse using body language and natural focus. Students will learn basic equine body parts, colors, breeds, horse(personalities), herd behavior, and "why do they do that". Students will walk away understanding foot falls of all gaits. They will learn to navigate poles, cones, circles, serpentine's, and straight lines.
Horse related Demonstrations will also give campers the opportunity to understand how to safely take care of horses. Demos could include: Farrier work, Veterinary visit, Chiropractic Care, Feeding Practices, and Overall Health Care.
Cost per participant(camper) is $500.00/week and includes Lunch,Snacks, daily equine related Crafts, and a Camp T-Shirt.
